Dear Friends,

I have a very special announcement to make today–one you are definitely not expecting! In July, Karen Fettig joined The Hope of Survivors Board of Directors. We are happy to have Karen on the team, as she has been a long-time supporter of The Hope of Survivors, and we want to share with you the main reason why she has officially joined us now.

For the past year, The Hope of Survivors’ Board of Directors has been discussing the need to do something to help victims of sex/human trafficking. We were very serious about avoiding “mission drift,” as clergy sexual abuse is our main focus and always has been and always will be. Yet, we saw a need and a way to join efforts to take a stand against the heinous crime of sex trafficking.

Karen has a passion for helping victims of abuse and educating the public on prevention and awareness of sex trafficking, and we thought it paired well with the mission of The Hope of Survivors, especially since there have been many cases where clergy (and church members) have been involved in the sex trafficking of young girls and boys.

As such, Beneath Our Wings was born! Beneath Our Wings (also known as BOW) is a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, but is tied to The Hope of Survivors as one of our partner divisions, similar to THOS-Romania, where it is a separate nonprofit organization but is tied to the main organization of The Hope of Survivors. At this time, BOW is focused on reaching out within Wyoming, but we expect this will expand to more states and countries as we acquire more volunteers and support. Karen is the one in charge of BOW and will be coordinating all the volunteers and events for BOW, as well as fundraising and all that’s necessary.

We hope that the partnership between BOW and THOS will prove to be a blessing to both organizations, and especially to those each organization serves. By teaming up, we can be a greater force for good in our communities and around the world. Please keep both organizations in prayer. Thank you so much!

God bless you,
Samantha Nelson
