Steve and Samantha Nelson,
Co-Founders

The Hope of Survivors, a nonprofit worldwide ministry of compassion providing support, hope and encouragement to victims of clergy sexual abuse and misconduct, was co-founded by Steve and his lovely wife Samantha Nelson in December 2002.

In addition to pastoral ministry, Dr. Nelson and Samantha served for over two decades with The Hope of Survivors, speaking internationally on clergy sexual abuse and many other topics, urging revival among God’s children.

Dr. Nelson also developed a line of Bible studies in a bookmark format called StudyMarks and is the author of the 2022 book Forever Free, written to help victims in their journey toward healing. He conducted many evangelistic campaigns and outreach projects throughout the years.

In addition to Dr. and Mrs. Nelson’s education and ongoing training, their own painful past history as victims uniquely qualified them for such service. Under Steve and Samantha’s direction, building on that anguishing personal experience, and combined with the knowledge of God’s Word, The Hope of Survivors has helped thousands of individuals to begin to heal from the devastation of clergy sexual abuse and to renew and strengthen their relationship with the Lord.

Through personal correspondence and victim retreats/conferences, The Hope of Survivors continues to assist individuals from all denominations in searching for truth and healing, modeling God’s love to these hurting individuals. The ministry also provides educational materials and seminars for pastors, churches, and the general public.

Thus, as we move forward following Pastor Steve and Samantha’s retirement, we continue to honor and deeply appreciate our esteemed Co-Founders’ immeasurable contributions to the message and mission of the Hope of Survivors.
