Dear Friends,

I’d like to share with you and update about the Gothard victims and the ongoing lawsuit, as shared with me by one of the victims:

It drags on and we need financial help again.

Quick recap:
At the January 2019 Evidentiary Hearing in Chicago, Judge Popejoy ruled in our favor and against Gothard’s Motion to Sanction us for bringing a “frivolous” lawsuit against him. One month later, Gothard filed a Motion to Reconsider. It was again denied by Judge Popejoy who stood firmly by his original decision with fact and with “personal observation that the plaintiffs were exceedingly credible”.

In June, Gothard took his appeal of Judge Popejoy’s ruling to the appellate court. All the motions, briefs and responses for that appeal are in and now the appellate court just postponed their decision until an oral argument hearing on January 23, 2020.

So many people gave generously for our original attorney retainer fee of $10,000 to defend ourselves against Gothard’s retaliation. We are coming to the end of that fund and need to cover the additional cost of the prep and time for oral argument hearing. We need an additional $1,500 to cover our lawyer costs. If you are able to give any size tax-deductible donation before the end of the year, we would be very grateful. Please follow the link below through the wonderful organization of “The Hope of Survivors” and comment that your gift is to help the Gothard victims.

Thank you!!!

Thank you for your financial support and prayers, which make a huge difference!

God bless you,
Samantha Nelson
